Unlocking a PDF
Sometimes PDF publishers, such as banks generating statements, will lock a PDF from being printed or otherwise modified. This can cause a problem if you wish to merge, split, or delete unnecessary pages from a PDF. Some lenders have problems consuming these locked PDFs as well. Processor's Toolkit (PTK) includes a simple tool to unlock an restricted PDF. Simply select the locked file, then click "Tools" > "Unlock Selected PDF". PTK will then create a duplicate, unlocked version of the file using the same name except with "(unlocked)" appended to the end.
